   European Medicines Agency (EMEA) is a decentralised body of the European Union with headquarters in London.
3. British Association of Research and Quality Assurance
   
   Association dedicated to informing and advancing its members, BARQA provides status and visibility for individuals concerned with the quality of research in pharmaceutical, agrochemical and chemical industry sectors.
4. NICE
   
   The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.
5. Pharma Ethics
   Pharma-Ethics Independent Research Ethics Committee is one of a few independent Research Ethics Committees in South Africa, The committee has been reviewing biomedical research and research proposals for almost 15 years and has no affiliation with any research institution or hospital. The objective of Pharma-Ethics is to contribute to safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of all actual or potential research participants and to ensure that the goals of research do not override the health, well-being and care of research participants.
6. Medicines Control Council
   The Medicines Control Council (MCC) is a statutory body that was established in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act, 101 of 1965, to oversee the regulation of medicines in South Africa. It is appointed by the Minister of Health and its main purpose is to safeguard and protect the public through ensuring that all medicines that are sold and used in South Africa are safe, therapeutically effective and consistently meet acceptable standards of quality.
